My Bucket List - 10 Things To Do Before I Die

Hello Everyone!
In my life, I always feel like I want more. I want to travel to new places, see beautiful sights, take part in new experiences. Life is boring if you live each day doing the same thing. Unfortunately I seem to do very similar things each week- and that is why I have decided to do a sort of "bucket list" of things I would like to do before I die. Some of these things will be more manageable than others, but I feel that if I don't aim for new experiences in life then it is not worth living. Life is for enjoying. This is why I like to think that I could manage to do all 10 of these things within my lifetime. My list is in no particular order.

10. Ride in a Hot Air Balloon
Every time I see a hot air balloon I always wonder to myself what it would feel like to be up there. What wonderful views I would have from high above the town- floating freely. Ever since being a child I have wanted to go for a hot air balloon ride, but they are rather expensive. This is why I haven't been able to do so, but I am determined that it is something I will save up for eventually. Since I have taken up photography I feel it would also be a great opportunity to take some truly breathtaking photographs.

9. Visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Florida)
I am a massive fangirl of Harry Potter and as soon as this opened I felt that it is somewhere I have to go. Sure, it's all the way over in Florida, and is super expensive to gain entry to, but I am 100% sure it would be worth it. In the UK we have the Warner Brothers Studio Tour which is a tour of some of the set and props. However wonderful that experience was, it wasn't exactly like being in the magical world. From what I have seen of the Florida resort it is a castle you can go into, and shops you can enter and purchase products from. The one in the UK has Diagon Alley, but only to walk through. Not to go into any shops. It's all a front that you cannot go into and it doesn't quite give the right feeling for me.

8. Own a Pet
Yes, I have owned hamsters and fish, but I would love to own a cat or pug at some point in my life. I love the affection that pets like dogs and cats give, and I have always had a love for animals so I would really enjoy having a pet as part of my family. Also, pugs are my favourite breed of dog, they are so adorable. That is why it is between a cat and a pug.

7. Visit New York
New York looks like a very scary, but fascinating place to visit. I love the idea of a city that never sleeps. Looking at people's photos and videos of New York it seems to be a fantastic experience for anyone who goes there. This is something that I never particularly wanted to do before last year, but America intrigues me, and where better place to visit in the USA than New York?

6. Bungee Jump
This is another thing that I have wanted to do since being much younger. I know that it is a scary thing to do, but I also know that it is something that I have to do in life. It looks like so much fun, and a great adrenaline rush. I would love to do a bungee jump over water of some sort, e.g. a river or lake.

5. Go on the Grand Canyon Skywalk
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a glass walkway which hangs out over the Grand Canyon. It opened back in 2007 and ever since it's opening I have wanted to experience a walk across the glass floored walkway. The admission to this is fairly expensive, but I feel if I ever had the opportunity that I could never turn down that chance.

4. See the Northern Lights
The Northern lights (Aurora Borealis) are a beautiful phenomenon which happens in the Northern hemisphere. The pictures look incredibly beautiful, but it will never be anything like seeing the real thing through your own eyes. I think out of all the 10 items, this is the one I would be happiest doing last. But it is still something I want to do, which is why it's in my list.

3. Buy a House
I know to some people this is a very common thing to do, but for me it is something big. I live in a rented apartment at the moment, and will be living here for much of the foreseeable future. So to me buying my own house is a big deal. I have this image in my mind of a perfect life with my partner, and my potential pet dog or cat (or both) living in a lovely house with a nice garden. It's a nice dream, and one day I aim for it to be reality. I know it will be a long time before this one can happen, but I'm happy waiting as long as it takes.

2. Go to VidCon
VidCon is an event for people who make and enjoy online videos. It came about in 2010 and was created by John & Hank Green (John Green being the writer who wrote The Fault In Our Stars). It is basically a venue filled with YouTubers, viewers, and different companies reaching out to both. It is held annually in Southern California. For someone wanting to go as community (people who watch videos) the standard cost is $150, for creators (people who make videos) it's $200, and for industry (e.g. networks and talent managers) it is $600. So this is a very expensive experience as I would prefer to go as a creator. And these prices are not considering travel expenses, hotel booking, food, etc.

1. Be More Confident
The last part of my Bucket List is a little more personal. I would like to become a more confident person within my lifetime. I want to be able to start and hold conversations with people without it overwhelming me. I want to make new friends and meet new people. I don't want to be this shy person that is too scared to talk to people. I don't want to constantly feel like the world is judging me. I always tell myself I don't need friends, but I do need people to talk to and to socialise with. I let my old friends drift away and now I feel like I can't make that connection back with some of them and it saddens me. So I need to be confident enough to make some new friends, and try to connect back with a few old ones.

I guess looking back on these 4 out of 10 of them involve going to America. Maybe I need to take a month long holiday there!
Comment letting me know some of the things you would like to do within your lifetime. It doesn't matter how long term or short term, but it's important that you aim for things in life. Also, don't let yourself get into a routine of doing the same thing each week. It makes life meaningless and boring.
I hope you are all having a lovely start to 2015.

  1. Oh great list!! You are a lot more adventurous than I am...no bungee jumping for me but I could do with a bit of your number 1 too! Good luck achieving them. :)
