My 5 Favourite TV Shows

I love to watch television, and lately there have been some fantastic shows making their way onto our screens. It has been hard for me to choose 5 shows out of the 10 or more I am currently watching, but these 5 stood out above the rest for their own reasons. Please note, I have kept these as spoiler free as possible :)

5. Arrow
A young Billionaire goes missing when his yacht is lost at sea. 5 years later he turns up and he is a completely changed man. He becomes a vigilante and goes after people who have failed Starling City.
I love the cast for this show and feel that everyone involved has played a perfect part. I never read the original comics, so I would be curious to see if someone who has would have the same feeling about the cast. The special effects in this show are absolutely amazing. It has been made with quality in mind- not only quality of effects but also the quality of plot. Each series has been different in its own way and it keeps you hooked. Also, we are now on series 3 and there is still so much to learn about what happened to Oliver on the island. I thought that each series would be very much the same, but it hasn't been. Each series has developed and been more interesting than the last.
The relationships between characters is also very cleverly done. It can make you want certain people to be together, but then make you change your mind by the end of the series. The character development throughout this show has been absolutely incredible.

4. The Originals (The Vampire Diaries Spin-Off)
The idea of the Original vampires first came about in The Vampire Diaries. They were the very first vampires ever created and all other vampires were made from them. Their mother had been a witch, and to save her children she had made them immortal, but she discovered that by doing this, she had turned them into monsters, who feed on human blood to survive. The main plot of this show is based on three of the original vampire siblings- Niklaus, Elijah, and Rebekah. They helped to build the city of New Orleans and had once ruled it, but had left long ago. The show is based upon them returning to their home city, but it is ruled by others. They have their struggles as Klaus tries to reclaim his city from werewolves, witches, and other vampires.
When Vampire Diaries came out, at first I loved it. Series 1 was amazing, but the last 2 series have lacked something. I still enjoy the show, but I very much prefer The Originals. I feel it has a much deeper plot, and repeats itself less. Unfortunately The Vampire Diaries is recycling old plot lines quite a bit, and thus far The Originals hasn't done so. Fingers crossed it will stay that way. I do see great things for the future of this show, and hope it continues for at least another couple of series.

3. The Flash (Arrow Spin-Off)
Barry Allen appeared in a couple of episodes of Arrow, as an innocent looking forensic scientist. So it was a huge shock (to someone who doesn't read comic books) that he would turn out to be The Flash. Barry was struck by lightning in Central City when a particle accelerator malfunctioned and the city became covered in radiation during a severe thunder storm. Barry was in a coma for nine months, and when he awoke he discovered he had incredible speed. He decides to use his power for good and tries to fight crime, like The Arrow.
I love Arrow, but this has something a little more special for me-I am preferring the storyline of this. I love the main actor they have chosen, and it was quite a shock how amazingly talented he is after his slightly shoddy acting in Glee.
Just like Arrow, with this show you get a really personal feel for the characters and their relationships. The Flash and Arrow also cross-over at some points in time- and I know that most people (including me) love a good crossover. I hope this show gets renewed for a second season as the first so far has been incredible.

2. Once Upon a Time
So much has happened in the 4 series of this show that I can't properly explain to you what it is. The series is based in a town called Storybrooke, and all the residents of this town are characters from childrens' stories e.g. Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumpelstiltskin. But these people have been cursed and sent to our world where there is no such thing as magic, and none of the people know they are magical storybook characters. They all live an unchanging existence for 28 years, so none of them have aged a day, but they haven't realised it. That is all I can say in a general term about the show.
Season 4 is based upon characters from the new Disney film, Frozen. I loved this film, and feel that the casting for the Frozen characters is so perfect. Also, the show tells some of the story before the movie (Frozen) happened, and the story after the movie. I have to show you the characters, but I suggest you don't skip ahead and watch season 4 without watching the others. It is vital you watch every series otherwise you won't understand it. Each series of this show has been different, and like with Arrow- it tells stories of the past, but we are 4 series in and still haven't learned everything. I love a series that gives you information gradually and lets you piece it all together yourself.
Anna & Elsa

1. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
S.H.I.E.L.D: Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. The first season starts with Agent Phil Coulson putting together a team of people to handle cases. I really don't want to give too much away with this, as the tiniest detail could turn out to be a huge spoiler. This show is very cleverly done, and the plot is absolutely fantastic. The end of season 1 leaves you wondering what more they could do, but they come to series 2 with the most fantastic storyline. I want to write so much about this, but I really can't! If you have seen it, then you will understand why. If you haven't seen it you will absolutely love it if you are a fan of Thor, The Avengers, Arrow, Flash, and all the other comic-book style shows and movies. So if you have never seen this, I would highly suggest you give it a go.

If you have any shows you suggest I watch, based upon the sort of things I watch, then feel free to comment and let me know.
I would love to do another post like this in a years time and see how much my tastes have changed.
