If I stay is a romance movie aimed at a teenage to young adult audience. Mia is the main character, and she gets into a car accident which causes her to be in a coma. She has an out of body experience and must decide whether to wake up and live a very different life, or pass on to the other side.
After watching a trailer for this I decided it looked like a good film to watch, and I am glad I chose to see it.
Being in a relationship myself, I picked up on similarities with her relationship with Adam. I understand the struggles she went through and I think that adds to the realism of the story. I felt the characters pain because I can relate to the position they are in and it makes the whole thing more heart-wrenching to watch.
Mia is a cellist and loves classical music, whilst her boyfriend Adam is in a rock band and prefers the rock scene. The movie is very much focused around music. The storyline bases itself upon Mia and Adam's musical talents on different sides of the spectrum and it definitely works for me.

I did feel that the storyline had a few similarities to 'The Fault in our Stars', so if you enjoyed that you will definitely enjoy this. I must admit at times during this movie I did tear up. It got very deep and emotional at some points, and these moments were done very well. Sometimes this sort of film can come across as cheesy, but this one didn't. It was believable and I really like that.

Overall I would give it 4 stars out of 5. It had a solid plot line, loveable characters, fantastic acting, and it pulled at my heartstrings. The only thing holding it back from 5 stars is the ending. Don't worry, I won't ruin it for you- but I felt it ended very abruptly. I would like to have seen more after the end. I'm guessing there won't be a sequel, so it leaves you wanting to know more but not ever being able to have it.
